Amravati

Located in the Tapi basin and right in the centre of the northern border of Maharashtra, Amravati is the mainAmravati town of the district of the same name. According to legends, Amravati, or Land of the Immortals, belonged to Lord Indra, the king of gods. This place is known for its extreme climates with hot summers and cold winters and has many orange orchards. The city, which is also an important centre for the cotton belt, is developing at a rapid pace. Amaravati is an important Buddhist site located near the ancient Satavahana capital, Dhanyakataka, is now called Amaravati.It was one of the four renowned Buddhist centers of learning in the country which attracted students from all over the world.It gave fillip to art, architecture, trade, and facilitated the spread of Buddhism on the east coast.Today in South India, Buddhists consider it the most sacred pilgrim centre. Many years ago, an emissary of Emperor Ashoka, who went to propagate Buddhism in this region, laid the foundation of the Great Stupa at Amaravati. We provide tourist transport in India.

The dome, now missing, seems to have been built solidly of large-sized bricks measuring 57 x 28 x 7.6 cm. presently it has a height of about 1.55 m and a diameter of 49.30 m.The stupa may well have been the one to have the largest marble-surfaced dome in the world! The dome and the outer and inner sides of the railing were richly adorned with carvings, depicting events from the life of Buddha. Sightseeing Highlights:
Ambadevi temple that is dedicated to Goddess Amba is the main attraction here and has a lot of devotees coming in each day.The Melghat and Wan sanctuaries are popular wildlife reserves, mainly famous for the tiger, but they have several other birds and animals as well. Within Melghat, the core reserve area is known as

Gugarnal National Park.
The region also has the Chikhaldara hill station, which is the only hill station in the Vidharba region.
Other nearby attractions include Gawilgarh Fort, the wall of which has undergone a fantastic restoration project by experts from Nagpur, and a few other temples.

Other Activities:
You can go for boating and picnics at Chhatri Talao, which is a reservoir on the outskirts of Amravati. Wadali Talao, which has a zoo and also boating facilities, is another popular weekend place.

Amba Devi Temple:

Air: The nearest domesti Airport is Vijayawada (about 60 kms) and Int'l Airport is Hyderabad (about 320 kms).

Road: The best way to reach Amaravati is by bus from Hyderabad (about 08 hr drive) or Vijayawada / Guntur.
