Banaskantha

Banaskantha is one of the 25 administrative districts of Gujarat located in the northeast of state. The district gets its name from the West Banas River which runs through the valley between Mount Abu and Aravalli Range, entering into the plains of Gujarat in this region and flowing towards the Rann of Kutch. The administrative headquarters is at Palanpur, the main town of the district. Banaskantha covers an area of 10,757 sq. km with a total population of 2, 502,843 according to 2001 census. In the year 2000, Banashkantha was divided into two districts, one is Banashkantha and the other is Patan district.
