Firozabad has been named after a minor Mogul General named Feroze. It is said that Feroze was send by Emperor Akbar to vanquish the thugs and bandits who inhabited this region. The place has been mentioned again during 18th century as a 'Pargana' or sub-division. In 1857, Chauhans of Mainpuri, Jamidar of Chandwar with local Mallahs took active parts in freedom struggle.
