Gadchiroli
Gadchiroli District is located in the north-eastern part of Maharashtra. It was formed by the division of Chandrapur District. Gadchiroli is surrounded by the River Wainganga in the west, Godavari River in the south and Indravati River in the east. It is famous for bamboo and tendu leaves. Godavari is the main river. Paddy, jowar, linseed, tur and wheat are the main crops. The languages spoken are Gondi, Madiya, Marathi, Hindi, Telugu, Bengali and Chhatisgadi. With an area of 14,412 sq km, Gadchiroli District has a population of over 1 million. The temperature varies from 11o C to 43o C. It receives an annual rainfall of 1,235 mm. Gadchiroli is the administrative headquarters of the Gadchiroli district of the western state of India, Maharashtra. The nearest airport is at Nagpur. The nearest railway station is at Chandrapur. How to reach
The town Gadchiroli is situated about 180 Kms away from Nagpur and 80 Kms away from Chandrapur of Vidarbha region. The district is well connected by roads with adjoining districts viz. Chandrapur, Bhandara & Nagpur. It takes around two hours journey from Chandrapur and 4 hours journey from Nagpur by State Transport Bus to reach Gadchiroli. Also, private luxury buses run from Nagpur and Chandrapur for Gadchiroli.
