Gaya district is a district in the state of Bihar with its headquarters located at Gaya town. Gaya is 100 kilometers south of Patna. The Mahabodhi Temple, which is located in the temple complex and is declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The present tree is said to have been descended from the original one.
