Rewa

Rewa is a important city in the Baghelkhand part or North Eastern part of Madhya Pradesh state of India bordering Allahabad,Mirzapur and Banda Districts of Uttar Pradesh and Satna and Sidhi Districts of Madhya Pradesh. It is the administrative center of Rewa District and Rewa Division, and was formerly the capital of the princely state of Rewa and former state of Vindhya Pradesh in central India. The town lies about 130 km (86 miles) south of the city of Allahabad, India. Rewa derives its name from another name for Narmada River.
Rewa is located at Eastern part of Madhya Pradesh. The major locations are Teonthar, Raipur, Mauganj, Hanumana, Gurh and Sirmaur. The district is well connected by Road, NH-27 & NH-7 and Railway Network. One of the major tourist attraction is Chachai falls.We provide travel & tours in India.

History
In the 13th century AD, the Baghels who are believed to be originated from Solanki or Chalukya clan from Gujarat came to this area and ruled from Bandhavgarh under the first ruler Raja Vyaghradev. In the mid 1550s, Raja Ramachandra Singh Baghela maintained a musically talented court, including the legendary Tansen. In 1617, Maharaja Vikramaditya Singh moved his capital to Rewa. Maharaja Martand Singh was the last ruler of Rewa who acceded to the Union of India after the country became independent.

Mohammed Jalaluddin Akbar, or Akbar The Great grew up in Rewa after his father, Humayun, was driven in exile. Akbar received same education and upbringing that prince Ram Singh received. Maharaja Ramchandra Singh and Akbar stayed friends. Two of the Navratnas of Akbar, Tansen and Birbal(original name Mahesh Das.) were sent from Rewa by Maharaja Ramchandra Singh once Akbar became the Emperor of India.Experience India with Indian Travel Agent

Rewa is also famous for its white tigers, the first one, nick-named Mohan, was caught in Rewa.
