Sirsa

Sirsa District lies in the extreme west corner of Haryana. It is situated on the banks of the Ghaggar with an area of 4,277 sq km. The old name Sairishaka is mentioned in the Mahabharata.

Cotton is the main agricultural yield. Wheat, gram, barley and mustard are other crops. Old festivals and traditions of observing Amavasya and Poornima in Lunar month are still followed by the people. The festivals of Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Muslims and Christians are also celebrated. Fairs and Festivals
Hola Fair
Hola Fair is a socio-religious fair celebrated in Sirsa District, Haryana. It is held at Jiwan Nagar on Chet Badi-1 (March-April) every year. The fair is celebrated with much pomp and splendor by the people belonging to Namdhari Sect. Mass marriages among Namdharis are also conducted during this occasion.

Mela Baba Boota Singh

Mela Shah-Bu-Shah
Mela Shah-Bu-Shah is a prominent fair held at Panihari, situated in Sirsa District of Haryana. It is held in the memory of a revered saint named Shah-Bu-Shah.

This fair is celebrated on the first day of the Hindu month of Record Bhadrapada. On this auspicious occasion, people throng to the place and pay their humble respect to the saint, at his tomb situated in this village.
