Zunheboto

Zunheboto derived its name from two sets of words "Zunhebo" and "To" in Sumi dialect. Zunhebo is the name of a flowering shurb with white leaves which bear sponge like ears containing sweet juice and "To" means the top of a hill. Visit India with Indian Travel agent.

Zunheboto is also the home to the Sumi Nagas, a warrior tribe of Nagaland. The district of Zunheboto is bound on the east by the district of Mokokchung and the district of Wokha on the west. High hills dominate the topographical features of the district. According to the census conducted in the year 2001, the district has a population of 154909 people with the population density of 123.4 per square kilometers. GHOSHO BIRD SANCTUARY:
Located 8 kms away from Zunheboto district headquarters, this bird sanctuary is solely maintained by the village community. This sanctuary is the habitat of more than twenty species of endangered birds. Migratory birds can also be sighted from the months of June to September. The surrounding village communities have now strictly prohibited the earlier rampant habit of hunting and poaching in this area. We provide tourist transport in India.

SATOI RANGE:
One of the only remaining virgin forts left in Zunheboto district, is a place of pristine beauty. Lush green trees and vegetation thickly canopy the walkways. This place is the natural habitat of Blythe Tragopan, a rare bird on the verge of extinction. This place provides an ideal place for outdoor camping and trekking.

The traditional ceremonial attire of each tribe is in itself, an awe inspiring

sight to behold; the multi coloured ‘spears’ and 'daos' decorated with dyed

goats’ hair, the headgear made of finely woven bamboo interlaced with orchid
